has
received his Certification in Clinical Engineering. This
certification recognizes Rick's competence in the Clinical
Engineering profession.
The United
States Board of Examiners for Clinical Engineering Certification
requires a combination of education and work experience in the
field before candidates can apply. After successful application,
which includes submission of confidential written references and
school transcripts, candidates must pass a 3 hour written and a
1 ¾ hour oral examination. Subject areas include: Management,
Technology Assessment, Regulatory/QA, Repair, Risk
Management/Safety, Education, and Product Development.
As of
February 2006, fewer than 150 people worldwide possess the

improvement by assessing the competency of professionals who
support and advance patient care through application of
engineering and management skills. Certification must be renewed
every three years.
We
appreciate Rick's personal commitment to achieving this
certification and the practical Clinical Engineering knowledge
that he shares with us daily.
